TOPIC: Some noob questions
Some noob questions 3 Years, 7 Months ago

after having read quite a bit of documentation but not all, I stumbled on 2 things I cannot really find in the docs (yet).

1. in stdlib/datadict/Field-phone I find this:

Prompt: 'Phone #'
Control: (Phone)
Format: (Text width: 15)

Where can I find the specs for the "Control" named "Phone"?

2. when I query a database is there a possibility equivalent to the SQL "LIKE" operator. I would be happy if somebody can point out where to find this info ...

"Phone" refers to PhoneControl

You can right click on "Phone" and choose Go To Definition (or click on it and press F12) to go to the source code.

Once you're on the PhoneControl library record you can click the "D" (Documentation) button on the toolbar to open the help. Or just hit F1 to open the help and search for PhoneControl or Phone.

The equivalent to SQL LIKE in Suneido would be regular expressions. For example:

select * from tables where tablename like "%AN%"

would be:

tables where tablename =~ "AN"

This is the same as how you would do it in code:

if tablename =~ "AN"

Hope that helps.

Hi Andrew,

that is exactly what I wanted to know! I'm glad to see such advanced methods of finding appropriate documentation.
