TOPIC: keep it simple

I've noticed Suneido sometimes has added features which become compulsory and can confuse the end user who is not a programmer and dosn't necessarily understand the basics of databases - 2 examples: 1. In the book interface the 'Go to definition' button brings you straight into the code. 2. In Accesscontrol, the Current, Global and Locate buttons are surley confusing for a user. Also when a mistake is caught the debugger comes up.

I suggest that these features should be options and for bugs, there should be the option of a nice message box saying "please contact your..." after all, Suneido's mission is to provide a simple... (see home page)

I agree.

Try setting Suneido.User to something other than "default" - this will hide programmer tools like "Go To Definition"

This also affects the handling of exceptions by Handler. Instead of the debugger, it will log the error (with SuneidoLog) and call AlertError which simply says "An unexpected problem has occurred."

Our users don't seem to have a problem with Current, Global, or Locate. It wouldn't be hard to add a way to hide these. You'd presumably still need Current > Delete. (one of the reasons we put this on Current is to avoid it getting clicked on by mistake, especially since we don't have an undo for it)

You might want to have a look at the Accounting application in the Download Library. If you run it via the login, you'll see how an application can be "tailored" for end users.

I apologize that a lot of these features are not well documented (if at all). Contributions to the documentation are always appreciated :-)

Thank you Andrew for your reply. I tried it and it works.
