Hi!!! I am a beginner, look at in attached file, I found a trick using IdControl. I don't know how this functions. Andrew could you to explicate?. Sorry for my English. Thanks!!!

I am not sure what the "trick" is. IdControl does allow you to store a different value (e.g. a timestamp) from what it displays. (Note: this requires a lookup every time it displays an item)

You should not need "whereFieldKey"

Also IdControl expects namefield and abbrevfield to be strings. You may run into some issues if you use numbers.

It will be easier if you can use the _num, _name, and _abbrev suffixes. These are the defaults and will simplify your code. Although you can override them, there are probably some places in stdlib that depend on them. (Because we use this convention everywhere.)
